Exorcism - Is it Real or a State of Mind?

Between 1997 and 2002, I had received over three(3) million visits to our 'radical grace' website. I published a new website in 2003 and it attracted over 80,000 visits in the first six months.

If find this interesting because the 'meta-tags and header code' that I used when publishing my website featured the titles; 'Need an Exorcism, Get Exorcism Help, Real Exorcist, Need Deliverance from Demons'. This is a clear indication that people are reaching out for help and that they feel they need help.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR AN EXORCISM

1. Control the Environment: This first environment that needs to brought into subjection is your own thoughts, beliefs and emotions. All paradigms need to be in compliance with scripture, the Holy Spirit and the purpose of God for each specific case. Certainly this includes being a prayed up, Spirit-filled believer in Jesus Christ! Be an overcome who understands their identity in Christ, their position in Christ and their assignment - which is to destroy the works of the devil.

2. Assess and Evaluate: Be ever so careful to assess and evaluate the environment, the atmosphere, the time allowed and people who will be participating in this work. If one factor is out of order it could prevent a successful outcome. If possible do pre-arrival surveillance. Do a detailed and proper case assessment before 'assuming' that you're actually dealing with a case of demonic possession. 70% of the people that come to me thinking they are demon possessed are not. They are merely under a delusion, somewhat psychologically not totally together in the head, or ignorant of what scripture describes as demonic possession. {I have provided an excellent Case Profile Form to assist you in evaluating a candidate for exorcism}.

3. Ensure that the candidate and their significant others come prepared, willing to get the job done and trust in your qualifications. Don't waste time if they are reluctant to accept these ground rules. Part of the ground rules include the understanding that you do not perform these services for pay. It is free of charge. A donation is welcome, but not even alluded to as necessary.

4. Never do an exorcism alone. Develop a reliable spiritual team and stick with them.

5. Maintain fire superiority. Never bound, gag or restrain a candidate for exorcism. Not only is it illegal but it indicates to demons that the exorcist is uncertain of their ability to exercise control and spiritual dominion.

6. Bring three (3) tools. A bible, anointing oil and awesome worship music.

7. Turn off all cell phones, computers, and televisions during the actual exorcism. In the same manner, all scoffers and critics are to prohibited from the room, in fact get them off the grounds. These devices and people are potential hindrances to an effective deliverance.

8. Always include a complete Baptism by immersion in an exorcism. See Leviticus 14.

9. Understand the primary objective. Make it a goal to have candidates for exorcism make a complete repentance of sin, renounce all sin, close the door on sin, forgive all who have offended or betrayed them and get them filled with the Holy Spirit. Jesus warned us in Matthew 12: 43-45. "When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places (they hate water), seeking rest, and finds none. Then he says, 'I will return to my house from which I came.' And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first." If you fill the house there won't be any room for them to return. Fill your house with the glory of the Holy Spirit!

10. Don't engage in lengthy talks with demons. They lie and don't know how to tell the truth! Everything they say is a lie.The 2% of truth that sometimes slips out is deception or perversion.

11. Make eye contact with the demon if and when necessary. When doing so, let Christ in you shine. This is an act of boldness and defiance. Demons will realize who that there is no fear in this mighty child of God.

12. Never use hypnotism-technics. Never use the hypnotic technique of calling up the Gatekeeper and asking the client to step aside or go down. This is pure hypnosis and New Age. When did Jesus ever do this? How do you know that you are not enabling or even empowering the evil spirit? Speak directly to the client. Ask them if they can hear the evil spirits. If they can then ask them to interpret. Never ask them to step aside for the evil spirit to step up to bat. Tell the client to not let them speak through them but to them. This always works. It is often the best way to demonstrate to the client that they do have some authority and to establish client authority. It can be the key to setting them free and empowering the client once they recognize the spirits are subject to authority.
