The Prosperity Gospel Deception

I Timothy 6:3-8, 'If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, 4he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions 5and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.

6But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.'

Oh boy, has God gotta' blessing for you! Simply get out your credit card or check book and give the biggest 'SEED FAITH GIFT' you possibly can - and God is gonna' bless ya! But give God your best and do it in faith.

According to the gospel of Kenneth Copeland, Creflo Dollar, Leroy Thompson, Mike Murdock and several other TBN favorites, simply give money to the work of the gospel consistently and you're guaranteed to receive a 30 fold, 60 fold or 100 fold return on that investment. Now whatever you do, please don't stop and actually do the math. You see, if we actually work the math on the "100-fold return" here's what you'd get:

  • Give $100. According to the formula, God will return to you $10,000.
  • Give give $10,000 and God is required to give back to you the amount of $1 million.
  • Give God $1 million and He owes you $100 million.
Are you getting the picture? Do you see just how ridiculous this SEED FAITH blessing concept is? If these preachers really believe in this principle, why don't they put it into action to the extent that they don't have to beg us for money anymore?

Have you ever wondered how Saint Paul got along financially? Did he have a financially prosperous ministry? Let's read Saint Paul's own words:

I Corinthians 4:11 (NKJV)
11) 'To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and we are poorly clothed, and beaten, and homeless. 12) And we labor, working with our own hands. Being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure; 13) being defamed, we entreat. We have been made as the filth of the world,...'

Several things about Paul's words stand out to me.

1. He suffered and endured in weakness in order to make others strong spiritually. (verse 10)
2. According to Paul's own words, at the moment of writing his letter Paul was suffering from both hunger and thirst. (verse 11)
3. According to Paul's own testimony he was poorly clothed, beaten and homeless. (verse 11)
4. He labored a job, working with his own hands. (verse 12)

What part of the word 'homeless' don't we understand? What part of the words 'hunger and thirst' are difficult to understand?

The time has come to look at the full counsel of scripture for what it plainly declares. All so-called ministers who sell blessings, promise financial abundance and make merchandise of God's precious sheep must be held accountable. Personally, I think their scheme fits the definition of criminal racketeering. They are knowingly and intentionally manipulating hurting, desperate people out of their hard earned cash. They are guilty of a serious criminal offense that merits jail time.
